The Smith is based on a Japanese Kiridashi design, a sort of stripped down, go anywhere pocket knife.
It measures 5” in length, with a cutting edge that is 2” long.
These knives are shaped from 1095 carbon steel, a popular knife-making choice due to its lasting toughness and exceptional edge retention.
The rough shape of the blade is cut by hand, then we take it to the grinder for shaping. As flecks of white-hot metal fly, the knife comes to life. Finally, we give the knife a hammered forge finish for that extra bit of rugged style.
Each blade is hardened and tempered for a balance between toughness and edge retention. Once the body of the knife is complete, it goes to the wet-stone for a razor-sharp edge.
A handcrafted vegetable-stained leather sheath provides the perfect storage.
This is an outstanding every-day carry knife that’s as comfortable around the house as it is in the outdoors.
These knives have an asymmetrical grind, so they are not ambidextrous. Refer to the ordering notes below for instructions on getting a right or left-handed blade.
Must be 18 years or older to purchase. Know your local knife laws.
- ▼Ordering Notes
- Please order the knife according to the hand you’ll use to hold it. They are crafted with an asymmetric hollow grind, so they’re not ambidextrous.
- Our blades are made with high carbon steel. This steel is known for its edge retention and durability. However, unlike stainless steel these blades will naturally oxidize over time and gain a beautiful patina.
Care must be taken to prevent corrosion or rust on the blade. Click here for information on how to care for your Origin Handcrafted knife.
- Our knives are designed with everyday use in mind and come with an Everyday Structural Guarantee. If for some reason our knives fail to perform as they should, we will replace or repair them at no cost to you. Note that this guarantee does not apply if the knife has been misused or improperly cared for.
To ensure your knife lasts as long (and longer) than you do, follow the steps outlined in our Knife Care section.
