Based on the Japanese Kiridashi knife, this is our take on a compact and versatile pocket knife.

Specs: It measures approximately 12cm from tip to tail, with a cutting edge that is 5.1cm long and a 3mm spine thickness

This knife begins as an old steel file. Vintage steel files are made from quality high-carbon steel, perfect for knives due to their excellent durability and edge retention.

We start by cutting the rough shape of The Wright out of the file. After the rough shape is finished, we bring the blade to life.

The Wright is then taken over to our grinder and worked by hand. Sparks fly, and the beautiful shape emerges. After careful shaping, grinding, and hardening each blade is finished by sharpening on a wet stone.

This blade fits tight in the hand and is highly maneuverable, making it ideal for use in the outdoors.

The steel holds a sharp and durable edge and will cut or slice with ease.

A handcrafted vegetable-tan leather sheath provides the perfect storage for this knife.

With its compact size and sturdy build, this is an excellent every-day pocket knife that will hold up for decades.

These knives have an asymmetrical grind, so they are not ambidextrous. Refer to the ordering notes below for instructions on getting a right or left-handed blade.

Must be 18 years or older to purchase. Be aware of your local knife laws.

Materials

Our blades are made with high carbon steel. This steel is known for its edge retention and durability. However, unlike stainless steel these blades will naturally oxidize over time and gain a beautiful patina.

Care must be taken to prevent corrosion or rust on the blade. Click here for information on how to care for your Origin Handcrafted knife.

Guarantee

Our knives are designed with everyday use in mind and come with an Everyday Structural Guarantee. If for some reason our knives fail to perform as they should, we will replace or repair them at no cost to you. Note that this guarantee does not apply if the knife has been misused or improperly cared for.

To ensure your knife lasts as long (and longer) than you do, follow the steps outlined in our Knife Care section.

The Wright - file steel kiridashi

Ordered this knife direct from website, with the understanding they make to order, so I was prepared for a wait. Very impressed with quality and grind. And the sheath is nice too.

A superb kiridashi, almost a work of steel handyman art with a beautiful, thick leather pocket sheath/case that almost looks like a dark, rich wood. Nice right-hand grind for me, very sharp. Just a little acorn stamp on the case and that's it for markings. Pretty darn sweet.
