Micarta is an unusual material that was first made by Westinghouse in the early 1900's. It is produced by layering textiles - in this case canvas - with resin, creating an extremely hard and durable material that is waterproof and non conductive. When cut and polished the canvas layers create a beautiful grain unlike anything else. And because Micarta is non conductive it is perfectly suited as a ring for electricians.
This particular ring is made from black canvas, but if you have another colour preference we can almost certainly find Micarta to match. It comes in every colour that canvas comes in...so lots of options.
Because we use natural materials in our rings, your ring may not look exactly like the ring pictured. Every piece of material we use has its own unique colour and grain pattern, which is what makes these rings so beautiful. Your ring will also age distinctly over time.
- This ring is available in sizes 6 – 15 (4 – 15 for some rings), in quarter size increments. Unless you request otherwise, they will be made in the following widths:
- Sizes 6 to 8 | 7mm width
- Sizes 8.25 to 11.75 | 8mm width
- Sizes 12 to 15 | 9mm width
To make sure you order the right size, we recommend you have your finger sized at a jewellery store using the standard US/Canadian sizing system before you order.

The Amethyst ring is from our Alchemist line of colour infused Maple rings. Before beginning the ring we infused a piece of Manitoba Maple with a purple resin which is then baked to permanently bind the resin to the wood. This process not only adds beautiful colour to the wood, but also strength and water resistance. This colouring will never fade or rub off.
The wood is then cut to shape and fitted with carbon fiber edging for a subtle contrast and the added strength of carbon, which is three times stronger than steel, but featherlight.

Crafted from Black Walnut and carbon fiber, The Grove is a simple yet distinct ring.
Walnut is one of our favorite woods due to its rugged style and rich character. The intricate grain pattern makes it perfect for a rustic wedding ring or engagement ring.
This ring starts with carefully-selected walnut wood being hand-turned in our workshop. Because we work it by hand, the texture of the wood shines through.
Once the body is done, carbon fiber is wrapped (by hand) around the edges of the wood. This seals everything in place, making this ring strong and durable.

This ring is the perfect example of why we love working with sustainably-harvested material at Origin Handcrafted.
Spalted maple has a grain pattern and texture unlike any other wood, due to the natural forces it experiences.
We take this wood, responsibly harvested on Canada’s east coast, and turn it by hand. As the wood is worked, an incredible grain pattern emerges.
Bands of carbon fiber are then wrapped around the spalted maple, giving the ring superb contrast and providing lasting durability.
